Muzzy Lane Software is located in Newburyport, MA, a historic seaport about an hour northeast of Boston. The company was founded in 2002 with a focus on creating a uniquely rich and detailed strategy game for learning and teaching history: the Making History game. Making History has been used in hundreds of classrooms, and the company's experience working with schools, teachers, and students led to the decision to develop the Sandstone platform, with the goal of making it easier and more cost-effective to deploy learning-games in schools and classrooms.
I worked at Muzzy Lane as a Gameplay Systems Programmer. I was responsible for adding features to the Making History 2 video game. I programmed using C++ and XML. Occasionally my work required me to create small scripts or functions using Javascript or Python. I worked closely with their game engine, occasionally adding new functionality when needed. 90% of the code that I wrote while at Muzzy Lane was written in C++.
